- Q: As a patient, do I have a choice to have my orthopaedic surgery at Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital or do I have to go where my doctor says?
- A: Every patient has a choice in where they would like to have their surgery. It's no different at Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital. When you and your physician are discussing where to have your surgical procedure, request to have it done at our hospital.
- Q: Where is the hospital located?
- A: We are located in Omaha, Nebraska at 144th and West Center Road.

- Q: What are visiting hours at Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital?
- A: Visiting hours are 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. every day.
- Q: Does the hospital have a cafeteria or dining area?
- A: Yes, we have two different cafe areas. In the main hospital, visit the NOH Cafe for breakfast, lunch and dinner options. You can pick up a fresh salad from our grab-and-go cooler or order off the menu.
In the OakView Medical Building, visit The Coffee Joint. The Coffee Joint serves gourmet Starbucks coffee drinks as well as fresh patries, sandwiches and salads.

- Q: Can I bring my children with me to the hospital while I'm having surgery?
- A: Children must be supervised by another adult while you are in surgery. Children are allowed to visit patients who are staying at Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital.
- Q: What can I bring with me to the hospital for my stay?
- A: Patients who are scheduled for an overnight stay at Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital can bring anything you would usually need for an overnight stay at a hotel. If you forget something, please let your nurse know. We have many toiletry items on hand for our patients. We will do our best to make sure you have everything you need to make it feel like your home away from home.
- Q: Is there a gift shop at Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital?
- A: We unfortunately do not have a gift shop at our hospital. The great thing is that we are located close to many other places where you could pick up gifts and other items. The closest floral and gift shop is HyVee at 14591 Stony Brook Boulevard.
- Q: Does the hospital have wireless internet? Can I bring my laptop with me?
- A: Wireless Internet access is available to patients, families and visitors of the hospital. This service is available in the main and upper lobbies of the hospital, as well as patient rooms on the second floor. You are more than welcome to bring your laptop to use our wireless network. Your laptop will need to be an 802.11b-compatible wireless Ethernet adaptor (also called Wi-Fi compliant).
- Q: Can I have a guest stay overnight at the hospital with me?
- A: Yes! We allow one overnight guest to stay with you in your room overnight.

- Q: How much is my surgery, or visit, going to cost?
- A: Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital would be happy to assist you in identifying the cost of your surgery. Since each surgery can be different, we will need some basic information from you. Please call us at 402.637.0600 and be prepared to answer the following questions. Once we have this information, we can help you find the approximate cost of your visit.
- What is the CPT Code of the service you are to have? You can get this information from your physician.
- Who is the physician ordering the service?
- Physician office phone number?
- Is this service being performed as the result of an accident or other third party responsibility? If the answer is yes, we will need some additional information.
- Do you have insurance?
- - What insurance do you have?
- - What is the insurance policy number?
- - What is the insurance group number?
- - Have you met your deductible?
- Q: How do I request copies of my medical records?
- A: The Medical Record Department processes these requests with proper patient authorization. Patients are to complete the "Authorization for Disclosure of Information" form. Completed requests/authorizations may be mailed or faxed to the Medical Record Department at 402-637-0633. Typically, requests for copies of medical records are processed with one business day of receipt. Copies of medical records are mailed to the person/physician/entity requested unless arrangements to pick up the copies have been made with the Medical Record Department.
