Michael C. Thompson, M.D.
A native of York, Nebraska, Dr. Thompson studied engineering at Northwestern University prior to attending medical school at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. After completing an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Nebraska-Creighton Health Systems, Dr. Thompson pursued fellowship training in Adult Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Orthopaedic Specialists of Charleston in South Carolina.
Dr. Thompson served both as a flight surgeon and as a staff orthopaedic surgeon in the United States Air Force. His assignments included Dyess Air Force Base (Texas) and Nellis Air Force Base (Nevada), while his most recent deployment to the Persion Gulf was in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom where he was a member of the 379th Expeditionary Medical Group.
Dr. Thompson is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. In addition, he is an active member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and is a member of several other medical societies. Dr. Thompson has authored several manuscripts and abstracts on various orthopaedic topics. His area of focus includes complex problems of the foot, ankle and lower extremity, as well as fractures and other general orthopaedic conditions.
