Physical and Occupational Therapy
Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital's Physical & Occupational Therapy serves the orthopaedic, industrial and athletic needs of our community. Our professional staff works in conjunction with the patient's referring physician, other healthcare providers and family members to return the patient to a normal, active lifestyle. Our communication with physicians, insurance companies and employers assures seamless care for our patients.
Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy involves the diagnosis and treatment of movement dysfunctions. The physical therapist selects appropriate tests to evaluate the patient's problem and establishes a treatment plan to restore normal function. The use of numerous procedures and modalities are utilized to promote healing and prevent a recurrence of symptoms.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy assists patients to regain, develop and build skills that are essential for independent functioning, health and well-being. Occupational therapists address psychological, social, and environmental factors that may impede independent functioning in all aspects of life.
Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic Physical Therapy is ideal for patients who suffer from physical limitations resulting from back pain, arthritis, obesity, recent orthopaedic surgery, and muscle soreness/weakness. Due to the buoyancy factor of water, those unable to complete land-based exercises are often able to do so in the exercise pool.
The multiple depths of the exercise pool allow for walking, running, resistance and jumping exercises. To enhance the rehabilitation process, the pool's current is capable of reaching 6.5 mph, which offers increased resistance. Videotaping capabilities are available for anyone interested in evaluating their swim strokes.
Hand Therapy
Our certified hand therapists work closely with area orthopaedic surgeons to provide exceptional care for hand and elbow injuries. This team approach allows the patient to be sure that constant communication regarding their care is taking place. Our therapists treat a variety of upper extremity injuries from tendonitis to trauma. Treatments may include splinting, manual therapy, exercise instruction and education.
